Their duties is to feed fish and other marine species, maintain temperature and keep tanks clean, repair equipment, assist in presentation, and provide educational and entertaining information to visitors. Some employment settings may also ask them to travel and collect specimens from oceans, rivers, and lakes. Besides zoos and theme parks, aquarists also work in laboratories and research facilities.
You can start an aquarist career with a bachelor's degree in marine biology. As a stepping stone, you can work as an intern at an aquarium. With relevant education and experience, you will also need a professional aquarist resume. The resume must highlight all the required skills such as strong attention to detail, good physical stamina, problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
