Training departments in smaller companies operates in partnership with the human resources department. They are established for internal service and is headed by the training directors. There is no limit to the responsibilities these directors handle. However, the main reason for hiring them is to assess the development needs of the organization, existing training models, and lead the staff members of the training department.
Since training is necessary to obtain new skills and polish old ones, the training director has to be an expert. He must hold strong knowledge and skills with experience in developing and conducting training programs for managers and other staff. Assessing, planning, and improvising training models are part of his job responsibility.
