A resident advisor (RA) is employed to ensure the residents of college or university campus are provided with intellectual and education environment. He also works to ensure emotional well-being of the residents and handle their problems promptly. Since the person has already served or serving his last semester, he is better aware about the people living in the community as well as the teaching staff and overall environment. The jobholder has to serve as a teacher, leader, friend, mentor, administrator, and counselor. He has to provide friendly and positive advice to residents and help in accessing educational resources. In short, the incumbent is responsible in ensuring fun, learning, and enrichment experience for all the semesters of students. His role is also to infuse seeds of good citizenship in residents and facilitate a sound and positive academic environment.
The resident advisor will plan, develop, and engage in activities with students. He will also take care of all the residents and perform community building job. In addition, the RA will also manage conflict resolution, policy enforcement, and crisis response.
