A head coach will have to direct and oversee the whole athletic team. Every sports team will have a head coach. They are responsible for making strategies, training routines, schedule matches and practice sessions and plan practice sessions as well. Depending on the level they coach at, they can recruit athletes as well, wash uniforms and drive the team bus also. Head coaches are also responsible for teaching their athletes fine points in a game.
They also have to develop their athletic skills and give them proper training on how they need to be mentally prepared during each game. Head coaches will have to get their players to succeed as team members or individually. They will get all the help they need from their staff or assistants, which they will always hire themselves, along with statisticians and trainers. Except for all these things, head coaches must be great motivators, give inspirational programs, analyze game films and give halftime speeches to help his or her team to avoid mistakes and overcome the entire obstacle put forth by the opponents.
A head coach has to be organized, energetic, driven and must have complete understanding about the rules in sports. He/she needs to have excellent communication skills and research knowledge, since all the head coaches have to recruit athletes and scout the opponents. Head coaches have to be extremely well with numbers, since a major part of their job is going through the statistics and understanding when the players will perform well and under what situation. Furthermore, only the best coach will know how to out every athlete in the best position for succeeding.
Usually, an experience in coaching would be preferred for this job. Therefore, if you have the required experience and excellent motivational skills, then you are right for this job. Just write a covering letter to get a job, and you will be good to go. Here is an example head coach cover letter to help you ahead.

If you read my resume, you will know that I have coached the girls basketball team at the Winter Haven Academy for the past six years, and I have successfully managed to take that team to state finals for more than six times. Earlier to this, I have been playing basketball professionally both in college and high school. I am a great mentor, coach and leader; and take immense pride in the work I do.
I would like to meet you so that we can discuss this job opportunity and how I would be making a difference in this role. I will contact you by the same time next week for a follow-up and possibility of an interview. However, if you wish to speak to me, then you can call me at 863-xxx-0061 or e-mail me at s.lucille@example.com.
