Use proper grammar, simple and direct language. Mention clearly, as to why the organization or the job post is of your interest. Allow the letter to reflect your personality, but make sure you don't come off as too humorous or aggressive.
End the letter indicating some kind of action especially from your side. You will be in control when you say that you will be calling them to fix an interview appointment at a convenient time, instead of waiting for the recruiter to call you. Proofread your letter and keep a copy with yourself for further correspondence.
