You may need to write an appeal letter to a school for several reasons. - The first rule in letter writing is to start with your address. The style mostly used in an academic and business field is full-block format. You can view this format on the internet and even download it. If you are retyping it on the format, you will align your your name, address and contact information to the left of the page. You have to leave a white space after your information for date and type it in month/day/year order.
- After the date, type the name and address of the person who is authorized to look into your appeal. Though your appeal would be specific to a department, for example, financial aid department, examination department, etc., the letter must address the person who is heading the department. Whether the school is large or small, you have to call it and request the person responsible for looking after appeal letters.
- The reason of appealing should come in the starting paragraph. Whether you are appealing to withdraw your kid's suspension order or extend the internal exam date, include your kid's name, his or her ID, and the grade.
- Explain what resulted into your suspension from the school. If you are expelled due to not attending classes regularly, state why you have remained absent. Mention any reasons that can support your absentee. For example, your illness, a death in the family, etc.
