An enterprise applications analyst works to analyze, support, implement and maintain all the software and hardware solutions for each facets in the organization. Some of the prime enterprise applications analyst responsibilities involve installation, maintenance, development and assistance of enterprise applications from the back end platforms to the user interface. They are responsible for identifying compliance of licensed desktop applications as well as assurance of compatibility in each desktop releases.
Enterprise applications analysts have to review the proposed software applications, implement them and validate their integration. In some cases, these specialists have to make recommendations to replace or add software applications that will fit the requirement. They are responsible for developing scripts, templates and other add-ins to update previous code and support the core applications. Recommending replacements or upgrades for software applications, teaming up with quality assurance panel to test new desktops before release, etc., are also some of the responsibilities of this professional.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties of an Enterprise Applications Analyst
Majority tasks of an enterprise analyst are technical. Their work covers various facets and their tasks involves duties that include:
- Assisting with the operation of the help desk functions and user support, handling escalating issues, answering calls, entering tickets and resolving various technical issues if required
- Analyze application design, implement them and build activities
- Ensure stability, integration and integrity of production systems
- Monitor vendor sites on regular basis and stay updated with new trends in the industry by attending conferences and meetings with vendors
- Coordinate with operational support personnel and system administrator for application upgrades and patches
- Coordinate and provide assistance for interface maintenance and support
- Develop project schedule for assigned project and revise the responsibilities associated with project management
- Lead team to direct and guide for designing and implementing of applications
- Record and facilitate future state design activities as well as current state assessments in order to support assigned projects
- Stay regularly in loop with the department managers, directors, end-users, system managers regarding projects, application issues and provide resolutions to troubleshooting issues
- Develop end user training schedule and execute it, support learning systems group in designing. Create technical support documentation and keep it updated
- Identify issues in tracking system and evaluate them
- Develop scripts as well as test plans and maintain them
- Mentor and provide guidance to other system analysis with difficult and more complex assignments
- Coordinate with hardware and software upgrades and execute them
- Assist with the maintenance, installation, upgrades and testing of software for the users
- Formulate objectives along with the system scope to modify or develop complex designs of the system
- Troubleshoot and assist with various web and enterprise applications and resolve various server and application issues
Required Educational Qualification
Individuals aspiring to work as an enterprise applications analyst need to hold a Higher Education Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a similar. Certification of MCSA and MCTS is desired. If a candidate holds work experience equivalent to bachelor's degree, it can be considered in lieu. Candidates should have experience in supporting e-commerce platforms and wireless application
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Experience with supporting and installing MS operating systems at a proficient level
- Proficiency and good knowledge of wide range of software programs including Microsoft Office 2003 (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word), Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Interwoven/manage Work share and Desksite
- Ability to support enterprise applications in the financial and legal industry, including applications such as expense management, time keeping and work flow systems
- Good knowledge of imaging, automated installation, scripting along with resolving problems
- Knowledge of using software deployment systems to install applications and packages is required
- Experience of administering, maintaining and supporting server platforms of MS SQL may be required
- Knowledge of installing, maintaining and supporting Digital Dictation systems and Fax Server technology
- Experience and knowledge of various technologies such as Jboss, Solaris, Java, Unix, C#
