A watch repairer may work for watch manufacturers, watch showrooms or repairing shops. He performs the basic functions of cleaning and repairing watches. The person examines the broken/malfunctioning watches and finds out the root cause of defect. He undertakes repair work as suited to the nature of the defect. He substitutes the exhausted batteries with fresh ones, replaces the broken / worn out parts with new ones, fixes up new glass frames to the watch, cleans and oils the movable parts and restores the efficiency of the watch.
The watch repairer needs to have an excellent hand and eye coordination to be able to work with delicate and tiny parts of watches and small tools with precision. The jobholder must be good in communication as well since interaction with customers is a vital part of the job. More than educational qualifications or certifications, it is the on-the-job training that determines the efficiency of the candidate.
