Flight test engineers are responsible for testing mechanical and electrical parts of different types of aircrafts. His duties is to arrange flight test schedule, coordinate with the engineering team, test pilots, and other staff for testing. He will also ensure that the test flight with the test pilot are successfully conducted. After every test, he will draft detailed report to elaborate his findings.
A flight test engineer job is offered to candidates with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or aerospace engineering. Education in any one of these disciplines is accepted. In some state, it is also necessary to complete a certification course from a test pilot school and obtain a license and registered it with the Federal Aviation Administration.
