Track coaches train athletes based on their playing experience and knowledge of the track and field sports. They may coach athletes for participating in different events such as marathon, sprint, hurdles short-put, long-jump, pole vault, or high-jump. With coaching, they also ensure that athletes are mentally focused and do not resort to banned substance to enhance performance. The coaches also suggest on nutrition, and treat minor injuries and muscle cramps.
A track coach must have a sports degree along with experience of participating in track and field events. In addition, a CPR, or nutrition and fitness certification is must to work with colleges and universities.
