They coordinate between exporting and importing companies. When processing the shipment of goods, they ensure that the trade is as per the regulations of the both the countries involved in the trade. They also handle the preparation of bills of lading for custom clearance of the shipment.

To work as an export agent, education in international business is necessary. Some employers may prefer practical experience over to education though.
