Resume is the means for marketing yourself to the employer. It is used by every job seeker to attract more and more employers for him to offer the job opportunities. It is not just the document but it is your promotional text that provides your past history in terms of your academic credentials, work experiences, acquired skills and accomplishments in previous jobs. Resume is composed of many different sections. Each section contains the relevant information. All these segments are exceptionally important in your resume. The work history in your resume is typically the largest part. It is also the part where recruiters will spend the most time reviewing. Being concise will help to keep the resume restricted to one or two pages which is generally required.

• While writing your experience you can mention city and state in resume, but these are not obligatory. It can be added if the writer has moved around a lot as it will support the reason for frequent job switching.

• It is recommended not to list the exact dates of employment, but month and year should be mentioned.

• Write your experiences in reverse chronological format. List your most recent experience first and list all responsibilities in descending order from the ones performed most often to the ones performed least often.

• Use action words like: developed, produced, implemented, secured, increased, designed, administered, surpassed, elevated, operated, distributed, achieved, etc.

• List your accomplishments in terms of firm figures, i.e. increased profits dollar amount, promotions, or prizes. Give explicit information and don't forget to contain information about quality and quantity.

• Grammar and spelling are important. Some employers will discard the applications and resumes due to poor grammar and spellings. Don't let your hard work and your experience get tossed because of simple-to-correct spelling errors.

• Make use of the words that are in the advertisement of the job for which you are applying, but only if it matches your experience. Never use the falsifying statements.

• Gaps in work history should be explained to the interviewer. Gaps in work history for "just needing a break" or where the time was not spent fruitfully will make the candidate emerge unmotivated to the interviewer.
